The pastoral care, general welfare and safety of the children permeates all aspects of school life.  Throughout the year pastoral care and child protection issues are addressed through assemblies, visitors and workshops.  Where possible, in 2022/23, online and in person approaches will be used to facilitate the delivery of key messages from outside agencies.

The school also has a designated Safeguarding Team who parents or children can speak to if they have any worries or concerns regarding a child.  Mrs English is the designated teacher for Child Protection and in her absence Mrs O Graham, Mrs K Graham and Mrs McGrath will assume responsibility for child protection matters.

At anytime, if you have a safeguarding concern, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors Mrs Liz Cavan and the safeguarding governor Mrs Alison Berry can be contacted by phoning or writing through the school office.

A copy of our policy can be obtained under the Parent tab on our website or from the main office.

We are also an Operation Encompass school.  Operation Encompass means that our school will be told, prior to the start of the next school day, when police have attended an incident of domesticabuse where there is a child or young person whoattends our school who is related to any of those involved in the incident.  We have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained about Operation Encompass procedures. This allows us to use the information that has been confidentially shared with us by the police, to understand how a child may be impacted by domestic abuse and to then offer support to the child/ren in our care.
