Egyptian Adventurers
P4/5 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Navan Fort on Tuesday to extend their knowledge on the Egyptians. We began by making some Egyptian crowns and by learning some more about how the ancient Egyptians dressed. We then moved to the museum where we tested our knowledge on key Egyptian gods and learned how to make papyrus. The next stop was to learn about mummification. We had a brave class member who volunteered to be our victim and we followed the steps needed to mummify her and prepare her for the afterlife. Finally we met an Egyptian farmer and his slave, they entertained us by telling us about their daily life and showed us some of the foods that they grew in Egypt. We had a fantastic day, enjoyed by pupils and staff alike. The pupils should be commended on their exemplary behaviour and impressed us all with their excellent answers to the questions asked.
