Pass the Ball Challenge

28th May 2020

Hi all,

With the sun out, we know that home schooling is very difficult at the moment and we appreciate all your support in continuing to access the Seesaw tasks on a daily basis.  Thank you for enabling online learning to continue and I know that because of your fantastic efforts, our children will return to school better prepared and more confident!

To help the school community stay connected and to motivate and keep the children engaged, we have organised a number of fun whole school challenges over the next month.  As this would have traditionally been the week we organised our Sports Day, we thought that we'd start with a Sports Challenge.  Have a look at the video that Mrs McKee has filmed demonstrating what you need to do.

Instructions:

1. Film on a mobile.

2. The ball needs to be thrown in from the same direction as in the video (Person who's filming, the ball needs to enter from the right of the mobile screen, which is child's left).

3. The child catches the ball and does something with it.  Gymnastic and football skills can be incorporated but keep it short please.

4. The child then throws the ball out in the same direction as Mrs McKee's video (Person who's filming, the ball needs to exit from the left of the screen).

5. View footage before sending.  Is the ball moving across the screen from right to left like Mrs McKee's footage?

6. Video clips should be no more than 5-10 seconds please.

We want everyone to participate so this will be assigned as a Seesaw task tomorrow.  I have also agreed with the teachers that everyone who sends a video clip can be rewarded with a 'No Work Pass' that can be used on a day of your choice next week.  Just add a comment to your Seesaw journal on whichever day you decide to use it.

Parents please send filmed clips to smcgrath554@c2kni.net by 6pm on Saturday 30th May so they can be collated together into a whole school mini movie.

Have a lovely weekend, enjoy the sunshine and stay safe!

Mrs S. McGrath
